Food & Beverage Assistant wanted!

High Post Golf Club is currently looking for a full-time Food and Beverage Assistant to work Friday - Tuesday.

Your responsibilities will include:

Taking orders from customers
Serving food and beverages
Operating the till
Reconciliation of the till
Clearing tables
Food preparation
Closing up duties
Hours of work 10.30 to dusk (winter hours are fixed and will be discussed at interview)

Club Secretary, High Post Golf Club October 2017

Job Profile

The club is currently seeking to fill the post of Club Secretary. This pivotal role offers a modern challenge in a dynamic working environment, requiring high levels of inter-personal and business management skills. The jobholder will work closely with the Club Professional and Course Manager, reporting to the Board, to deliver a first-class proposition to members and guests comprising the course, the club house, practice areas, the bar and catering. In all areas, we are looking to drive the club forward as we approach our centenary in 2022.

Experience and/or knowledge of:

·      experience of a sports facility and/or licensed clubhouse preferred
·      event management
·      communications including websites and social media
·      financial reporting, experience of Sage, Payroll and VAT returns
·      budget projection, management and reporting
·      PR and marketing
·      physical and information security, including GDPR
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
·      flexibility and availability to work when required in accordance with the demands of the club and golfing calendar, including some evenings and weekends
·      interacting with, and representing the club to visitors, golf authorities and associations
·      upholding the club’s ethos and standards ensuring they are observed by members, guests, visitors, suppliers, trades, contractors and staff at all times
·      overall day-to-day management of the club for the benefit of the members, reporting to the chairman and the chairs of sub-committees individually to implement activities, in accordance with the board and the sub-committees’ policies
·      administration of the club’s finances and achieving the club’s financial goals (see below)

·      budget projections, management and reporting for: facilities; catering and bar; staff; training, policies, subscriptions; sales, marketing & communications; special events  (but excluding management of the course and pro shop)
·      the recruitment, training, retention and direction of all staff employed by the club (with the exception of the Course Manager, the Club Professional and their staff)
·      accurate taking of minutes of all sub-committee and board meetings with production and distribution within 7 days of the relevant meetings
·      to be the available point of contact for current and potential members, societies etc to answer all day-to-day enquiries
·      regular communications to members by various media to keep them fully informed at all times of matters relevant to them
·      implementation of club’s marketing strategies, including energetically promoting the club externally through local press and other media
·      building relationships and sponsorships with local and national businesses to further the commercial success of the club, and with national and county golf unions and other local clubs
·      compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations and best practice
·      preparing the club’s annual golfing diary including administration for golf competitions
·      organisation and management of special events
·      successful operation and management of the facilities including: the bar and catering function; clubhouse and buildings; car park; practice area and professional operation
·      control all security measures (including premises, information and GDPR compliance), first aid supplies and insurance requirements.

Management structure and reporting

Reporting to:

·      the board  and sub-committees appointed by the board
·      authorities such as HMRC, DWP, Water Inspectorate  and Environmental Health
·      the Finance Director for the administration of the club’s finances and preparation of the annual accounts.


Assist the board and the finance sub-committee to:

·      prepare the club’s business plan, annual budget and quarterly forecasts
·      assist the finance director with regular financial reports
·      asset management and reporting
·      meet agreed margins for the bar and catering function
·      maximise cashflow and credit control and bank all monies promptly
·      input the financial data into the SAGE software system reconcile and control all income streams
·      prepare the monthly payroll for the payroll bureau
·      ensure regular stock takes are undertaken and overseen
·      pay VAT, PAYE and National Insurance to the HMRC by their due dates
·      administer the government-led pension schemes
